The unexpected death of her husband overwhelms 78-year-old Hilde. Hilde experiences emotional numbness and immerses herself into her daily routine which includes gardening, cleaning, and listening to the radio. Once a day has passed she informs her children of their father’s death, his body still lying in the marital bed. Ben and Christin come straight to their parents‘ home, but are of little help to Hilde. The two siblings are estranged and have different views on their mother’s situation. Hilde realises that she cannot rely on her family for support and needs to decide for herself how to confront this loss. In the end, she starts a very personal farewell ceremony that reconnects her with reality.
